These are a few of my favourite things

Life changes after having a baby

It is easy to talk about the tough stuff, that we sometimes forget to focus on all that we gain once we have a baby.  Many mums don’t like to say what they are enjoying for fear that it will sound like gloating to their friends without babies, or that it will seem that they are having a really easy time of it all.  We say, enjoy motherhood and talk about the ups and the downs!

Our favourite things since having our babies:

1) Smiles – they can honestly melt your heart, especially when you are utterly sleep deprived.

2) You get a break from work – it is often really lovely to have a change in your normal routine. Now you’re your own boss, even though your subordinates might not always be on board!

3) New friends – people you meet post baby can become great lifelong friends with whom you share exciting times.

4) Growing family – it is amazing to make a little person with your partner, you will stare in wonder at this little creature who you have brought into the world, through whatever means.

5) New shopping obsession – buying baby gear (especially clothes) is FUN!

6) Challenges – you will find yourself open to new challenges as you often change with motherhood and realise your ambitions / desires.

7) You can become extremely self aware in trying to be a good mother, thereby become a stronger and more actualised individual.

8) You look to the future and want to better the world!

9) You have a new best friend.

10) You get warm fuzzies and big smiles about the little things in life.

11) You see your local world through different eyes – you are able to explore cafés, parks and local shops instead of squeezing onto a jammed tube and rushing to work.

From our readers:

Amanda – “Having someone to wake up with me at 6.30am to catch the worms lol”

Abbie – “Caring less about how I look, but feeling better than I’ve ever felt when Tilly smiles and laughs with me.”

Caroline –  “His smile in the morning…or at 2am 4am ; )”

I couldn’t agree with you more! It also helps with the tough days when you remind yourself of all the wonderful things to be grateful for. I love the sleepy cuddles 🙂

    Hi Niki
It is really important to embrace the cute moments – they are gone far too quickly!
